I am a child of Japanese and Korean immigrants and first-generation descendent of the Asian Diaspora. Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, I am a proud Midwesterner, calling the unceded lands of the Council of Three Fires (Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations) and the Kiikaapoi, Peoria, Miami, and Oceti Šakówiη people my diasporic home.

Currently, I am a graduate student at the University of Minnesota in the School of Kinesiology (Sociology of Sport) and a Diversity of Views and Experience (DOVE) Fellow with the Graduate School Diversity Office. I earned a BS summa sum laude from Northeastern University in Sociology in 2023.

My research interests lie at the intersection of sport studies and Asian American studies, where I aim to explore the experiences, constructions of, and meaning-making around Asian diaspora athletes in mainstream, conventional institutions of sport. Rooted in my life context as a former elite athlete, I am interested in how historical legacies of sporting institutions impact the ways in which dynamics of power are navigated and negotiated by athletes with marginalized identities. In particular, I aim to tackle questions surrounding capitalism and surveillance, empire and White supremacy, and resistance and liberation within sport and physical culture. Through this work, I hope to strengthen the political consciousness of Asian Diaspora athletes and (re)imagine liberatory models of sport.

I am also a dedicated coach, working with the Northernettes Synchronized Skating Teams in the Twin Cities as an assistant coach for the Juvenile team. I was formerly an athlete with the Haydenettes, competing with the team as a member of the US National Team for three seasons.

As a graduate student, I engage with Sport Scholars for Justice in Palestine, an academic organizing group aimed at supporting the liberation of Palestinian people.

I am also an avid sports fan, from the NFL to the Olympics, and appreciate the culture, fashion, politics, and emotions that make being a fan interesting and fun. As someone who grew to love the NBA in Boston, I especially love rooting for the Celtics.
